Who should I choose?

4* / 16yo / Passing at 4 / IN-16 / CON-12 / VI-4

3* / 24yo / Passing at 8 / IN-18 / CON-19 / VI-2

Thank you!

I''d somewhat reluctantly go with number 1. And I would run the ball. A lot!

Neither. Get yourself a better option

But for short term - QB 2

Long term (meaning you'll have to pass sometime) - QB 1

Though it's long-term, he might progress faster then you expect. But i would defiantly say QB 1 to.

Never 1! Intel too low, not enough consistency. 2 will be a decent backup. Find someone new altogether to begin training while using number 2 as starter for now.

I hope you dont mind if I piggy back on this thread instead of opening my own.

I have two 4 star players, both with high intelligence/consistency. Was going to make one my QB and the other my MLB. Thoughts on which one should be which (or neither are good enough)? I have already formulated my opinion, and want to see how it stacks up.

19 yo - 18 yo

16 - Intelligence - 17
3 - Positioning - 3
1 - Vision - 4
5 - Footwork - 7
3 - Carrying - 1
5 - Tackling - 7
4 - Blocking - 1
4 - Passing - 3
1 - Catching - 7
7 - Kicking - 2
1 - Punting - 6
8 - Speed - 12
13 - Strength - 8
7 - Agility - 2
6 - Stamina - 7
19 - Teamwork - 10
16 - Consistency - 15

This is just my opinion but the 18 yo might just do at QB but doesn't have as high a consistency as you'd like. I don't think the 19 yo is either a QB or MLB unless the physicals max really high for MLB.. Just my personal preferences.

Well, I'm new and have no grasp on time in this game. So what you're saying is, for QB and MLB, I really need to wait for the 4.5* 18/18 int/consist players and in the meantime, just put any shmuck there while I'm building seats and instead, play these 2 players in a different position?

I understand there are priorities before training but it seems like I'm "wasting" training on undeserving players.

Most important factor for starting QB is talent. You need it at 4,5 stars or preferrably better. The intelligence-consistency combination is more forgiving. The higher you set that bar, the more unlikely you are to find the one that passes.

The 2 players given neither qualify for starting QB because of talent. This doesn't mean you should play them at other positions right away. I think either of them could make pretty good backup for your future franchise QB, after you've found him. The 18 year old kid has (presumed) QB secondary skills higher, and thats why I'd play him at QB for the time being.

MLB is the defensive coordinator. He should be the one with most intelligence of LBs. Should he have 4,5 star or better talent? I don't remember ever reading that talent affected coordinator duties. He will get his share of tackles so more talent is better.

I fear that 19 year old kid fails on MLB intellince test. Still he might make a decent backup MLB and a starter at OLB, or depending on his height he might be more suited to DL/OL or kicker.

Thanks guys - I think I understand what you're both saying. However, they are the best I'll have for a long while (I imagine you have to be super lucky or pay a premium for one of 4.5* high intel/const guys) and I'll just have to accept that they'll both be backups someday. The 2 youth pulls I've had both stink.

I'm just in the process of setting my lineups and I know most of these guys wont be around long term but for a game that takes so long for fruition, I'd at least like to try to set it up right on the front end.

I actually had them reversed (as the 19 yo has some BPOS at QB and the 18 yo has some BPOS at LB), but I see now that I was overlooking the 18 yo's vision and footwork. Too bad his agility is so low. Not to make things more difficult but the 18 yo is only 5'9" (so basically he's Doug Flutie) and the 19 yo is only 5'11".
