First thing you have to do is try to de-program GLB terms in your head. You have to think a little like soccer and then throw in a language barrier from Old English to New English.

Just because it's listed as Defensive skill does not mean the Offense doesn't use it. It also doesn't mean that the Defense has any need for it all. Don't worry about the grouping of the skill you want to train and instead just try to figure out what each skill does and train appropriately. It takes some time to figure out and there isn't any information other than what users here assume to be correct at this point. Read through what other people think they have discovered and then apply it to your own discoveries and try to figure out what attributes are best for which positions. As of right now there is no word from the actual Game Devs as to what attribute helps what position.
