Since we're being educational.

The word "robot" was first used by Czech writer Karel Čapek in his play R.U.R. (Rossum's Universal Robots)... Asimov is typically known as the most prolific writer to feature robots as characters in his stories. (Asimov was the first to use the term "robotics".
