No, it's your supporter account that will go inactive in 3 days. The supporter account gives you certain additional options and allows you to see features of the game that you normally would not be able to see. It is a free game to play.

A lot of the information you're looking for to start can be found in the Help/FAQ even more can be found right here in this forum. You're going to be full of a lot of questions as the game can be a little intense at first, but reading the FAQ and the forum can help to reduce the questions you will have. After you've read through those two things feel free to post any questions you might have about the game. The folks here are pretty helpful.

What does the "Form" field on the league standings mean? It's a sequence of green and red squares that represent something I'm not sure of.

Green are Wins and Red are Losses i think this is covered in the FAQS around the site and forums

Sorry, thanks. Read through it but missed that. One thing I can't find is a breakdown of which stats qualify as "attacking," "defending," "tactical," etc. I've looked around a bunch to no avail.

Just click on your training tab and then select one of the group fields of Attacking, Defending, Kicking, Tactical, or Fitness. Within each of these groups you can choose to Focus on something:

Attacking:
Agility
Passing
Catching
Carrying
Footwork

Defending:
Blocking
Tackling
Agility (Apparently can be trained both Attacking and Defending)

Kicking:
Kicking
Punting

Tactical:
Vision
Positioning

Fitness:
Speed
Strength
Stamina
