Atypical Formations

I'm looking around at a lot of other teams and seeing how they line up (by looking at their player stats after recent matches). Most people seem to go with typical formations, defenses in the 4-3 and offenses with 2 WR and 2 RBs. There's some variation as I see that quite a few favor two SS rather than playing one deeper at FS, and the team I just played employs two HBs rather than having a blocking back.

With the lean toward the running game, I chose to start off with a 4-4, while developing a youth player to play as a second safety later on. While on offense, I went with a single back, 2 tight end formation. Both worked well today, but it's just my first game so who knows how well it'll pan out down the line. With a new team, I have most guys playing out of their natural positions so it may take until the end of the season before I see how good they can do in this set up.

Anyone that runs something a bit unusual or run up against a team that employs a different look have any thoughts on how it worked out for them (or against them as the case may be)?

If it wasn't so late in the season, I wouldn't tell you what I run, seeing as how we're in the same league. But since we don't play anymore, I can share.

I run a pro style, split back offense with 2 HB's and no blocking back.

I have also seen a lot of weird things around the game though. I saw one offense in Oceania that ran no tackles and I believe only 1 guard or something like that. Not sure how they went with so few blockers, but it was effective. Unfortantely, they are now bot.

I run a 5-2. On offense I've got 2 TE's, 1 HB, 1 QB, 5 O-Linemen, and 2 WR's. So, normal offense and wierd defense.

Weird, but at this stage, effective. Until you run into a team that passes a lot. I ran some 5-2 early on and it worked pretty well.

Only weird considering LB's cover people. Otherwise, I still have a front 7. And yeah, nobody really passes on me, safugnoff doesn't count! I kind of pass though...

Well, a big single-back formation isn't that "weird" but it's not the norm here. I am going to play a bit with it as the season goes on and am probably going to try single back three wide for my friendly coming up.

Friendlies are the best way to try different formations, players and tactics.

Well, I joined so late in the season that I don't think I have a shot at winning my league. So, I'm taking this short season to try stuff out and figure out my team and the game.

Well I've gone for the wishbone variation tactic by using 2 fullbacks 1 halfback qb, 5 ol 2 te's and no WR'S. Yes its very run based and yes its very predictable but what can I say most of my guys started off with like 15 in strength and 15 in speed Thats my offence at least.

My defence I am going long term and have made a 3-4 tactic for eventual QB passing defense. Currently training stats stamina to at least 10 on everything, when they reach 10 I'll be probably swapping the skillset to a different area.

I started off with a variation of the bone. I went with no TE's and 2 WR's to incorportate the passing game a bit. I changed after I was knocked out of Cup so I could balance the offense up a little bit more.
