I went through Gurudefence's guide that was stickied and through the Help/FAQ, but I couldn't find any direct meaning to their skills. For example I'd like to know the difference between Footwork and Agility (Not the fundamental dictionary difference, but what the difference is in this game). ie:
Footwork - A players ability to...
Agility - A players ability to...
Position - etc...
Blocking - (This is a good example, because I would assume it's an attacking function for the G's and OT's rather than a Defensive function for DE's who are trying to get around the block and not actually block. Yet it's listed as a Defensive training category.) A Description of what it means to the players would be great.

I know what the word means in English, but I'd like to know how each skill effects a players in game ability.

Footwork is how good a RB is at doing his job in running and not doing a jig and getting nailed in the back field or how good a linemen is at heing his legs apart and not close together and getting knocked down or even the QB and having steady feet and not dancing in the back field

Agility would be a players ability to perform the things needed to make them live up to there ability you want a WR that has good Agility but a TE would be better suited with more strength inless hes to be catching a lot

im not the best at this but its just my general knowledge of the game if i had more time i would deeper into it

What about Strength for a QB? Is Arm Strength and the distance he can throw figured into his Passing ability or does he need Strength as well? Gurudefence seemed to rate Strength pretty low in his FAQ (Stickied above).

Also, is it an oversight that there is no FAQ on these skills or is this done on purpose?

It's done, at least in some way, on purpose. The admins aren't really telling us what most of the skills are used for in the game, and the reason for that is that they want us to try to figure it out on our own.

So a lot of it is that most of us just aren't completely sure. We all can think it through with what the skills are need for on other games, or in real life, but once the game gets a couple seasons in(remember this is the beta season) and people can start experimenting and figuring some things out, we'll have a much better idea of what is needed and what isn't.

I would disagree with Jinto in the fact that FOotwork is about placement of your feet. For OL DL it's getting that drive to move forward or laterally. for WR's it's the stutter step. QB's it planting the lead foot when you throw etc.

Agility is the ability to make cuts or juke people.

See I could see Footwork as being some kind of scramble ability for the QB, the stutter step and high step for a WR/TE/RB, and maybe to some extent a blitzing OLB or DE (Swim technique when skirting the OTs).

Hey Tahl, hows it going pal?

I will look at the Skills thread later, as I believe we have noticed a few more things since that post was made.

As Buckeye has said, we are not 100% sure on anything, and are therefore making assumptions based on some experimental friendly games and real life - to a certain extent.

Guru.
